Adults’ Group for People with ASD

Formed in November 2010, meets for outings on the first Saturday of the month at around 6:00pm. It provides an opportunity for adults with an ASD to interact with one another and other community members.

The Adolescents’ Group 

A social group of young people aged twelve to seventeen years, began in April 2010 and meet at NQ Employment, 25 Casey Street, Aitkenvale, on the last Sunday of the month. Activities have included Pizza evenings, Movie evenings, and a variety of games.

IT Group 

Recently formed! If you are in high school or a young adult (to age 20), interested in game design, social media or web design, you might like to join a group of other like minded young people interested to learn more and to share ideas. It is intended that this group will meet on the second Sunday of the month.

Brothers and Sisters (or Siblings) Group 

Open to all school age children who have a sister or brother who is on the autism spectrum. This group meets once a term to renew friendships and to share, through social outings and play, what it means to have a brother or sister with autism. These social outings are often conducted during school vacation periods.

I am one of the volunteers who mentors our ever growing IT club. We have a number of children with various projects happening all around us. It is amazing to see what the children can create with the knowledge and freedom to do so

I am the president of the N Q Autism Support Group. I worked as a special teacher with Education Qld. I believe that the NQ Autism Support Group is wonderful local group who are able to advocate and support children and adults on the Spectrum but also the parents and carers.
